We will only work with suppliers that are as committed to minimizing environmental impact, water conservation, and recycling as we are.
We seek out and support in any way possible like-minded individuals.
Soapstone International is constantly working to reduce the environmental impact on our two office locations and vehicles.
Some of our specific areas of concentration:
- Maintain facilities in a timely and appropriate manner, so as to reduce pollution and waste. Warehouse is sweep and vacuumed verses the use of water for cleaning whenever possible. The outside areas are maintained by use of blowers and brooms.
- Cars and trucks are regularly inspected and maintained to minimize pollution. They are only cleaned at facilities that recycle the water.
- Recycle all paper products. Increased shredding - which is now used for packaging and shipping.
Recycling of cell phones, computers, and electronic equipment through our suppliers and a third party supplier. - Employees are encouraged to turn off lights in our facilities, along with turning off computers before leaving at night.
- The use of emails is encouraged instead of faxing whenever possible to reduce paper waste.
During the summer months, setting the temperature higher to reduce ac usage and electricity. The opposite is done in winter. - A concentrated effort to combine and organize meetings and deliveries to lower the mileage used by our vehicles. We have drastically reduced our fuel bills as a result.
We strongly feel we have a responsibility to do our part to minimize our carbon footprint on our environment and that of our children and grandchildren.
